Painless LANAP instead of flap surgery and implants

I had been advised by another periodontist to have gum flap surgery in some areas and implants in others. Dr. Linden felt I was a good candidate for the LANAP surgery instead. The procedure itself was completely painless and as the numbness wore off I braced myself for pain, and there was absolutely none. I have not had any bleeding when brushing any longer. I have gone back for a few cleanings and will have my one year assessment at the end of August. Dr. Linden and Patti were comforting and reassuring during the procedure. - Toni

I drive 140 miles each way to see Dr. Linden

I was treated by Dr. Linden for a mild case of periodontal disease. I did not want to have the routine procedure of treating my gum disease by cutting the gums and damaging healthy tissue. I wanted a more up to date treatment. I was evaluated by Dr. Linden and he indicated that I was a good candidate for the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP). In December 2010, I had the procedure done. It took a little over 2 hours and I had no bleeding or discomfort. I went back to work the next day as a speech pathologist and I was perfectly fine to do my job. In less than a week I was able to eat regular food textures. Since the treatment, I have seen much improvement in my gums. I am so grateful for Dr. Linden's skill. He is very well trained and very knowledgeable. I cannot imagine another doctor being more competent or considerate of my comfort.

I have started treatment for advanced gum disease with Dr Linden in his NJ office. I cannot imagine another doctor being more competent or considerate of my comfort. He kept me informed of all the steps involved before, during and after the procedure, continually reassuring me. He uses a laser instead of a scalpel in most cases causing much less pain and speeding recovery time to the point that I was able to return to work immediately after the procedure. This is 'cutting edge' technology without  the 'cutting'. From what I understand of what have read this has the potential for a better outcome than traditional surgery with far less pain and discomfort. I will update this review when I finish treatment but for now I highly recommend Dr.Eric Linden.

Dr. Linden saved my gums and teeth! To say I was nervous and more than a little scared is an understatement. Truth be told, I was terrified. I had developed a large abscess and been told I had periodontal disease that needed open surgery right away. I was terrified and put it off for months before I found Dr. Linden. There is nothing to worry about

After finding out from my regular dentist that I had to have gum surgery I was terrified. The recommendation at the time was to have flap surgery and after seeing pictures online of the procedure, I knew that I had to find an alternative solution. So I did some research and found Dr. Linden’s website.

A short time later I went in for a consultation and Dr. Linden told me I was a good candidate for LANAP. Feeling much more comfortable because of Dr. Linden’s and Patti’s genuinely caring manner, but still nervous about the situation, I made my appointment to have the procedure done.

I can only tell you that “there is nothing to worry about”! No pain, no bad sounds or smells, nothing! And no pain after the procedure is over. The hardest part was remembering to stick to soft foods for a while afterwards. I remember walking out of Dr. Linden’s office completely relieved!

I would highly recommend Dr. Linden to anyone who is considering having periodontal work done. I have roughly a 3-hour drive to get to his office and then back home again and it is worth every minute!

Dr. Linden's efficient and painless approach vs. what I almost went through.

I was told more than several years ago that I needed to have periodontal surgery. I finally got up the nerve last year to see a Periodontist who examined me and after all the x-rays and pocket measurements, told me that I would have to have all 4 quadrants worked on, which meant surgery on one quadrant at a time with approximately 3-4 weeks in between each quadrant being done to allow it to heal. She described the procedure, and I left her office terrified, so naturally I put it off.

This past summer, I knew I had to just do it, and started looking on the Internet for any possible alternatives. This is where I came across Dr. Eric Linden’s web site. I read about the laser surgery as an alternative and immediately made an appointment for a consultation for the following week. I was skeptical at first, because it sounded too good to be true, but after my initial consultation with Dr. Linden, who fully described what to expect, I left his office feeling very optimistic. Although it is costly, I decided to go ahead and made an appointment for the following week.

I am not good when it comes to needles, and he did inject me with quite a bit of Novocain, but I only felt a few minor pricks and he talked me through it all. My mouth was totally numb and I never felt anything else after that – and he did all 4 quadrants in the same sitting. Both he and his assistant, Patti, were great -- very professional and friendly. I arrived on Friday morning at 11:00 am and was in my car driving back to Connecticut from his New Jersey office by 1:00 pm. It took a while for all of the Novocain to wear off, but I was able to eat soft foods that afternoon and evening. Not once did I feel the need for any pain relievers. I followed his instructions on how to clean my teeth and came back the following week for my first follow up visit. This week I will see him for my 4th follow up and expect to hear the same that all looks good. All I can say is that if you do have gum disease, call Dr. Linden’s office and make an appointment. I can promise you that you will be happy you did….I know I am!!!

I recently flew 9,500 miles from my home in Thailand specifically to see Dr. Linden.

I have been a patient of Dr Lindens' for almost seven years and throughout those years I have received nothing less than the most outstanding treatment. “The dental messiah who delivered me from extraction"

Good: I really liked that as scary as having laser gum surgery sounds, there was absolutely NO PAIN AT ALL. I really liked that having this surgery was presented to me as an alternative to having a full mouth extraction.

Bad: I didn't like that this periodontist could not be my general dentist. That's more of a wish than a dislike. He's that good.

Improvements: Dr. Linden's Manhattan office is relatively new so they are going through some renovations. I have no complaints about it now but I'm sure it will be much nicer afterwards.

Other: What struck me most about Dr. Linden was how thorough he was in explaining exactly what the laser gum surgery (LANAP) would entail. Even during the procedure, he was detailing what he was doing as he did it. It had a very calming effect on an anxiety-filled patient who didn't know what to expect. Dr. Linden is a great periodontist and I wouldn't hesitate recommending him to anyone who has periodontal issues.

A bacterial infection was decimating my teeth

Over a decade ago I began having dental problems which, over a two-year period, caused me to have to have three of my four wisdom teeth extracted. But then I contracted a severe periodontal infection. In a relatively short time, not only did I lose my remaining wisdom tooth, but also the tooth immediately in front of it. The bacteria were spreading rapidly and required highly specialized care. Fortunately for me, my regular dentist was familiar with the range of periodontal care in the greater NY area and recommended Dr. Eric Linden as being among the best. He recommended that I see him quickly, since the problem was now threatening at least a quarter to a half of my remaining teeth.

Dr. Linden had the knowledge and expertise to stop the spread of the infection and completely repair the damage over the next few months. He has now been caring for my teeth and gums for more than a dozen years. Even though his office is over an hour from my home, I’m happy to drive the distance to get the best care available. In all that time, Dr. Linden’s skills and sincere concern have helped me maintain excellent dental health. I still have my remaining 27 teeth – and I just recently turned 75!

At first, like anyone being referred to a Periodontist, I was nervous. Let’s face it – who really welcomes the idea of having to consider gum surgery?
